After a 12 hour shift today and a couple of hours back at home, I will be going back into work to help deliver one of my dearests friends first baby…..she has no idea if she is having a boy, a girl? I learnt a valuable lesson today whilst caring for a labouring woman whose mother was present… There are no words that can be of comfort to a mother who sees her daughter in pain, yet if the mother fails to see beyond her own birth and fails to be present for her own daughter and allow her to have a different experience to that if her own, my words entirely failed me.
